"Still, FEMA has done a pretty damned good job and certainly warrants a grade of B+ or better." They've done better, much better in the past. For example, they arranged to evacuate 3 million people before Floyd hit. Things like mass evacuations are easier to manage on higher levels than the local one. But that was with a Director who believed that disasters were better dealt with as proactively as possible.

David Ray; <Why is it necessary for the Dems to turn it into a political event?> I don't think I have heard one single person say that the poor response was because of republicans. It seems to be a political event only in your mind! The poor response was because of some individuals - some republican and some democrat who failed. I sure am not a democrat, but still think there are many people who deserve to be out of a job. We need to make FEMA and Homeland Security work. The best way to do that is fire people when they screw up. They screwed up big time here! steve
