IMO, there should be *no* federal subsidy of flood insurance.

Why encourage building in flood-prone areas, and pass the risk off on the backs of the taxpayers?

I figure I got one more house left in me before I die. If I stay in Fla. I got 2 1/2 acres over in Naples, and if I build there its gonna be a house that will withstand ANYTHING a Hurricane can dish out. Now, after katrina I am even thinking of a DIKE around it. (gg). However, my wife is now thinking we should move to Las Cruces, N.M. nothing ever happens there. hehe. jdn
