Maybe I am Crass, I dont know, but if it were my son that was killed his death would be as shattering to me whether it was accidental or in a firefight. I cant see the big deal here over the obvious administrative error. I suspect the error was caused because his company commander merely reported deaths and it was PRESUMED they were all in the firefight.

Incidentally, that ACCIDENT IMHO could be grounds for a courtmartial IMHO. I have never heard of a machine gun being left with the ammunition supply (whether it be belt or box) still connected. Maybe its different today, maybe its different in Iraq, but seems foolish to me. jdn
