A bit more complicated than that. These statistics are heavily dependent on (a) how many immigrants a country receives., and (b) where they are from. In 3/2003, Latin America (largely Mexico and Central America) provided 53% of the 11 million KNOWN US immigrants. Of course, to that must be added an unknown number of illegal immigrants. Being illegal, we don't know WHAT number to add, so we will leave them out. But remember they will inflate the number of potential US infant deaths. And reduce life expectancy. census.gov That's about 6 million known immigrants from there, most of whom were poor, uneducated, and had either no or bad ideas about health and hygeine. I've been down there many times. I know. Look at the liberal paean, France. In 2000, it took in 119,000 permanent immigrants. These statistics are from here: oecd.org You have to hunt them down. There were 60M French in 2004. We'll use that number. The 2004 population of the US was 293M- -5X larger. So, if France took in the same number of poor poorly educated immigrants as the US, it would have had to take in 1.2M immigrants. But it didn't. It took in 10% of that TOTAL. Including immigrants from other advanced European nations. Now Canada gets lots of imigrants too. In fact, it actively encourages immigration since it is the 2nd largest nation and has only 30,000,000 population. But, like US legal many immigrants, it gets the top of the heap: educated Indians, Chinese, Malayasians, etc. These people are far more likely to be familiar with elementary hygeine and to follow physician's instructions for the treatment of disease. And they know how to avoid getting disease in the first place. What I did not say was that we have a HUGE problem with Aboriginal suicide, Diabetes, etc.--in short...EARLY DEATH. You've heard of "Native Americans" or "American Indians, I'm sure. They have the same problems. We've got lots of them. We have entire "Reserves" where MOST of the kids are sniffing gas by the age of five. Explain this. Somehow I think we can overmatch any drug problem you have.
