re: "For instance, it took five days for National Guard troops to arrive in strength on the scene in Homestead, Fla. after Hurricane Andrew hit in 2002.

This guy is a genius... someone should tell him (and you) that Andrew hit 10 years earlier, in 1992.

"For instance, it took five days for National Guard troops to arrive in strength on the scene in Homestead, Fla. after Hurricane Andrew hit in 2002."

A) Andrew was in 1992. Somehow I suspect the rest of the article is whacked.
B) Andrew is often used as a classic example of how FEMA screwed up. And why Clinton hired a professional to head FEMA and turn it into a useful agency.

This is why you are better off not posting links. You usually destroy your own argument with them.

"For instance, it took five days for National Guard troops to arrive in strength on the scene in Homestead, Fla. after Hurricane Andrew hit in 2002. But after Katrina, there was a significant National Guard presence in the afflicted region in three [days].

Sorry dude.....being in N. LA when the need is in NO ain't good enough.

And the fact that it took five long days for the national Guard to show up in S. Miami is the reason that FEMA and the whole disaster program was revamped under Clinton. Sadly, its only taken Bush II 5 years to unravel the good done under Clinton.

LnS-

Hurricane Andrew is considered another example of a hurricane that was handled badly. FEMA was overhauled after that.
