The one big problem ('unsolved' last I checked) with the sprayed concrete domes appears to be with the exterior application of the insulation layer, and the choice of a suitable exterior coating (or 'roofing') material.

I never understood why they didn't build them as a sort of 'composite', with a sprayed concrete inner wall, foamed insulation layer, topped with an outer sprayed concrete shell....

Seems like that might solve the problems with the exterior... but maybe I'm missing something?
