Lindy, do you really think government flunkies are going to stop the second coming?

There has never been a popular revolution which a government can stop. When they see a steam roller coming, they get out of the way or get run over.

But, as you suggest, there should be some fun skirmishing in the initial stages before the size and power of the onslaught becomes obvious to the pathetic politicians. They will do all they can, including murder, to keep their hands in the till. Owning a money-tree has been the most profitable enterprise ever in the case of the USA and Uncle Sam. Uncle Al KBE has done a great job of keeping it going.

Unfortunately for Uncle Sam, the other 96% of the world's population isn't so keen on perpetually funding those on the receiving end of freshly minted US$, of which there are many billion a year.

Central planners do NOT want competition, as you say. The KGB and USSR dealt to a LOT of competition and the bodies were strewn from Vladivostok to the Berlin wall. I'm sure the USA doesn't want to be like the USSR.
