Most people would accuse you of hyperbole but you are exactly right.

It's slavery. A person owned by third parties is a slave. People like having slaves, so it's not surprising that there is popular demand for price controls.

John, poor people shouldn't burn much fuel. They should ride bicycles and live close to work

i assume that is why we lived next to general electric corp that took up a 1/3 of the city. and we had the testing of jet rocket engines at night to sing us to sleep. no car, never took mass transportation. walked to schools, to downtown , to beach or took my bike.
i believe big cities are pretty much the same. my son's father-in law rides a bike to work all the time, speaks only his native language ,Italian, Sicily, works in pasta factory and has little Italy all around him no need to worry about gas prices. it's folks in suburbs who need gas or city folks who need to get to suburbs.

my vote allocate vs price. or pass a windfall profits tax.ooops
