Carter's presidency is probably ancient history for purposes of this poll. Few people vividly recall the details of his tenure. He is probably most familar to the majority of Americans for his post-presidential activities.

Yesterday's Wall Street Journal had an article on a survey that was conducted with some academics that were asked to rank each of our 40 presidents. The poll was weighted to adjust for political bias. Carter was ranked 34, Clinton 22, GWB 19, GHWB 21, Johnson 18, Kennedy 15, Reagan 6, and Eisenhower 8. The article does not appear to have been posted online without a subscription to the WSJ. I might spend 15 or 20 minutes later this week and post the article on SI. I'll make sure send you the link.

Chinu, I was talking to a few Indian friends and they were commenting on the rampant corruption and cronyism in the Dumbya government. They were comparing it to a state government in India which is said to be the most backward and lawless among all states in India.

They also said that state was ruled by an idiot (called Lallu?) but added that even that fool had more common sense than Dumbya! What a pity! :-(
