Very good advice.

Some times people will call YOU! I had that happen once when we lived near Portland. Somebody called having seen our surname in the phone book. We met, and she was a relative. I could see the resemblance in her nose -- she had the family nose. That was a long time ago, however, before I started my genealogy work, and I've lost track of her.

OK, now I have a quandary. I came up with a pretty solid link to put me into the Jamestowne Society, Rice Hooe (said to be Welsh, should be spelled Rhuys).

But it turns out he wasn't a very nice man. Like, his first wife beat and mistreated an indentured servant who ran away and died of starvation and exposure. Eeeeek.

We are said to be descended from Wife #3, but still . . . .

Keep looking or go with old Rice?
