There was this radio call-in show, and Rand first explained her "philosophy" which pretty much consisted of "do it unto others before they can do it unto you." She advised living for the purpose of surviving without reflecting on the reason for surviving. One of the listeners, a kind of nice guy, I thought, asked her politely if that way of living wasn't kind of like an animal. Instead of admitting that this was what she meant, she reacted as if she had been personally insulted and told the talk show host, "If this is the kind of question I am going to get we will have to terminate this program right now." The caller sheepishly apologized.
