Don't know about his comment about playing for "nickel and dimes", as the majority of call like stocks I used when I wrote Gold Irony, are now up 50-75%.

I think the biggest mistake made playing gold is to treat it as religion. I've always liked gold, and think I have a knack (or good luck) in that arena. But I also tend to be agnostic about it. Gold Bugs need to remember, gold doesn't know you own it, and is very impersonal. And almost all the companies in the sector are dogs (very difficult business), and like stocks in other parts of the market tend to get overvalued. In fact that's the problem generically with this entire stock (and bond) market, way too much risk taking, and overpaying for stuff.
