LOL, i was laughing so hard by the end of that paragraph i had cereal and milk coming out my nose. btw, that type of hyperphonetic orthography is what Koreans have been using since 1446. what other country has a national holiday to celebrate its alphabet? (Hangul Day, October 9th)
you can learn the gist of Hangul in about 10 minutes. the rest of the language takes about 10 years.

I did some googling on M.J. Shields and think you are right -- widely miscredited to Twain. One source which says that M.J. Shields was a critic of George Bernard Shaws attempts to reform spelling.

Twain probably got mixed in because he did write some essays about spelling, but none that I could find that seemed authentic included the stuff we were talking about.
