President Bush to distribute "Shine Stands" in New Orleans

President Bush, saying that we need to promote entrepreneurship in New Orleans, advanced the idea of giving those needing jobs and a new start a fully equipped shoeshine box. The President also said he'd be willing to give those that can dance some Bojangles-type tap shoes. For the ladies, Bush reminisced that he had spent some time in New Orleans as a young man, and that they already have all moneymaking equipment they need.

Asked how he had arrived at these ideas, he credited his mother, former First Lady Barbra Bush. Mrs. Bush had commented that many of the refugees had it so much better sleeping with thousands of their peers in the Astrodome than they had had it in their fetid ghettoes in New Orleans.
