Saudi women to participate in polls
(Updated at 1125 PST)
RIYADH: The government has ordered women to be allowed to vote and run as candidates in a local chamber of commerce election.

This is the first time women will be allowed to fully participate in an election in this Islamic kingdom.

It was a small but unprecedented step in Saudi Arabia, where women are under heavy restrictions, barred from driving a car or traveling without a male guardian's permission.
