Work with Michel Thomas, Ted.
Then you can Skype with your friends in German soon.

Agree that Ms. Merkel may not be the most attractive card but nobody wants the Schröder team working hard on maintaining German status quo for another period.

You know the problem is not that Schröder wasn't changing things........in fact, he was changing things. It was the German people who dd not like the pain associated with those changes. They don't want to cut back on their vacation time or increase the hours they work. That's why Schröder threw up his arms in May and asked for general elections.

As for Merkel, she talks out of both sides of her month. One minute she is saying she would have sent troops to Iraq which is a huge disaster while the next minute she is calling for bringing back the German troops from Afghanistan.

She sounds very much like another 'compassionate' conservative we know in this country. Plus, she scares people when they see her in the dark.
