Too much drain on my energy reserves.

yes, i know... i very much relate to that. in fact, for me it has become: being smart with my time and rather than bitch (which really it is all i can do), i try to outthink these outlaws and make more money and shelter it in the allowable places, so as to not be affected by their senseless unproductive greed.

the real answer is better education for the masses and making the media less aggressive about the scrutiny of the personal lives of public figures. i believe really smart and productive people shy away from participating in politics simply because they feel they do not have to put up with the crap the press puts them through; the result is... well, we end up with the absolute dumbest... just look at the results.

as for the question....

once you have made the decision to put money in the hellhole.... then you need to ask yourself... how do i attract the best? the only way i can think of is by the 'enterprise zone' policy of offering advantages...

of course that is no guarantee that the best will show up, but what else would you do ... again... assume that the decision to put money there is a given.

me, i would not put a dime in a place like that... now... think about this...

call it the new New Orleans... and move it elsewhere... utilize the best urban architects and come up with a jewel that presumably would do a great service to the region ... ( i understand that the port IS needed... so can it be moved elsewhere ?

to have this provincial retarded view that it HAS to be built in the same hole . why ?

-roflmao look at mexico city... the damned place was built there (the bed of a drying lake) because some nomad (at the time) aztecs believed in the peyote induced legend dictating that whenever they would find an eagle killing a snake... that would be it, that is where they would built their city... LOL!! well, they found their eagle and where was it? in the middle of a frigging lake, which it was drying, so in a way you could say they were 'lucky' otherwise they would have another venice...

so what do they do? they proceed to build it there... and the spaniards ? same dumb thing, they built a city ON TOP of their temples...

and modern day mexico ? same old dumb thing, they continue piling cement on soft bed lake ground

except that... the entire place is like a bowl and has very soft ground.... several major buildings have been sinking for years... not only that, the area is earthquake prone, and this soft ground actually multiplies the effects of an earthquake... (as well proven in 1985).

a clear case of .... well, dumb, dumber, and dumberer... -roflmao

do they learn ? nooooooooooooo they just continue defying logic, reason, and engineering (actually, it has to be said that some pretty good engineering has resulted from solving the problem and the best example is the subway system in that city (which is the third busiest in the world)... however, the cost of doing so does NOT justify the enormous risk they face every day.... *you should see the monsoon rains every afternoon during summer* lol! they have streets submerged in a meter of water creating simply the most amazing traffic jams ever seen... but that is another subject..

it seems they have been doing the same in NO and it looks as though they will continue.... WHY ?

who knows...

the stupidity of humans knows no limits

Since the initiative and the funding are federal, then the answer has to be desirable for the country as a whole relative to federal tax monies available and other priorities, seems to me.

well... is that an automatic link ? -g it is federal because it is they who have the money (or the power to create it out of thin air).... now i understand better the BernanKaput assertion that ....

"the US has a technology called the printing press"... -lmao-

i am sorry... we are doomed, the airplane engines are on fire, we are going down , the pilots are dead and the crew are drunk... as for the passengers... they have no clue what is going on...

Or if you want to talk about the general culture of dumbness, I'm game for that, too. Right now, I'm just trying to find out why some people think it's a good idea for federal taxpayers to subsidize the building of new buildings in New Orleans.

LOL !!! well... no, not really, i do not want to talk about how dumb everyone in government seems to be striving to be... i just tried to answer a question... there is a logic of motivation for the buildings to be built in that particular area, hence the incentive. as to the logic of 'why there'... i have no clue... and i do not agree with the rebuild of NO in the same location.

personally, i would:

1. declare it a national park,
2. charge for tickets
3. promote international tourism to the area to see the NO ruins, a monument to human dumbness
4. if the port is needed, then promote the building of a brand new city (along the lines of Brasilia, the new capital of brazil, back in the sixties, when they moved it away from Rio de Janeiro, to somewhere in the amazon jungle.)

however, i know that will never happen...

so, for me... it is time to concentrate in areas where real growth exists and benefit from it... enjoy life and to hell with politicians and how dumb they are, i have finally accepted there is nothing i can do. i am better off becoming productive where i can control my environment. it seems it is working, thank you very much.
