Sorry Geoff! I have heard that claim! Show me your evidence! Brown commented on how it saddened him to watch the Baron's plane go down. I don't remember his words. But we can look them up. The Australian claim is bogus unless you can prove otherwise!

What have you got as "proof"?!

This "Wikipedia" article supports the controversy that there WAS Australian machine gun fire from the ground but it states that Brown was officially credited with the kill, and given a Bar for his DFC.

Upon viewing Richthofen's body on the following day Brown wrote that there was a lump in my throat. If he had been my dearest friend, I could not have felt greater sorrow.

I will leave it at this "NOVA" documentary. It is better than us struggling through research.

Brown was convinced he had killed him. I'm going with that. The Nova conclusion leans slightly toward the Australian claim but is also inconclusive. What matters is that they all deserve the credit. So be it.
