Right now I am fairly sure that we will see a cabinet formed by the Union, Green party and FDP. They are all actually not too far separated and in particular not where it counts, how to get the economy back under control.

That would be a very strange coalition. Besides, the Greens are saying they will not align with the CDU. Of course, down the road, they may change their minds.

More and more, it looks like Schröder will play this whole mishmash to his advantage.

I am wondering with the Germans if there was any intent behind their voting or did it simply fall out this way by accident. BTW do you know why some of the ex SPDers were so disenchanted that they quit and went to the Left Party?
