re: As for Nagin, I can't say that affability is his strong suit and I definitely think he's playing Bush against Blanco to get as many goodies as he can, but I also think the guy is fairly bright, knows what he's doing and is committed to turning NO around. He realizes with Katrina, even as horrific as it was, that NO has struck gold and he's going to get as much of that gold for his city as possible. You can't ask anything more from a mayor.

Yeah, I think he's loyal to the (former?) residents of New Orleans. I'm not sure you can say the same about the feds... they would certainly like to turn New Orleans from Blue to Red.
