Oil won't be at $70 a barrel in 2010 because it's already well above competing energy prices and other alternatives such as efficiency, insulation etc. People are doing all sorts of things to cut their oil consumption and replace it with other things.


I'm not so sure. What fraction of the world's population lives like N. America & Europe? What fraction is rapidly clawing their way up?

Indeed efficiency & market forces will pull in other cheaper energy sources, but for mobile use it is hard to replace oil. You also must factor in that oil production cost are headed up, not down in the future as fields near depletion.


The main motivation for Iran to get nuclear bombs is Islamic Jihad


I suspect that their quest for nuclear weapons has far more to do with security FROM both the USA & Israel then it has to do with Islamic Jihad. It is defensive, not offensive.
