OMG and it was just getting to be peaceful in Iraq. I wonder if those guys were 'undercover' or actual mercenaries.

Some of our mercenaries were shooting at our soldiers. Yup, we were paying both sides.

How absurd has Iraq become.

One more hole in the dike. Did you catch the comments (last week IIRC) where an Iraqi official was bitching at the US holding of so many Iraqi's without charges?

On the brighter side, the US death rate this month is down nicely from the preceding months. Actually, the last half of August was markedly better as well. I wonder if tactics have changed?

arresting the two Britons, described as special forces commandos dressed in Arab clothing, for allegedly shooting two Iraqi policemen, one of whom died.

The British had to free these two, since there is some possibility that the Iraqi's would have the brains to declare them "illegal combatants" and hence undeserving of Geneva Convention rights.
