va appears to be somewhat under staff at nursing home (never heard it called nursing home. here it's a hospital) the care from what i hear is great. they still follow WW2 vets. i have friend who for years swears by the doctors who watch him closely (now 84) told him he shouldn't be walking twenty years ago. He gets all his medications free from pharmacy at hospital but complains about busy phones. (we hear that from every person trying to call a customer service org.)

These va hospitals are taking care of men women full time with various medical problems and mental problems. I also suspect many who got into trouble with the law during their lives also got a choice go to va hospital for help or go to jail. (many have lived at hospital for years)

I doubt they are a hundred per cent effective but from what i hear they are proud of what services they provide and patients seem to be happy. I do know they also go through various performance inspections throughout the year, (some unannounced) all complaints are also fully investigated from internal and if required hdqtrs personnel.

i sent off your post to a few friends. here is one response.

"I agree.....the US treats its Vets the same. My Mother, 86 is a WWII
VET--WAACS LT. They are booting her out of the hospital, not because she
is getting well--- but to reduce bed count.....So much for those lifetime
benefits."
