Usually, the tribally violent alpha male dominance hierarchy chimpoid tendencies are displaced and sublimated in competitive confrontational sports such as football, boxing, rugby, hockey, basketball. Hunter gatherer competitive expeditions are expressed in golf, fishing, snooker, sailing, mountain climbing, surfing. A ball is like prey to be caught and possessed. The alpha male approach to understanding social interactions is overrated IMO. Knowledge continues to expand. This is one of the reasons I fault the USA wrt to Israel/Arab relations.
