Actually, the Bushie rightwing is dead. Look at the polls.
He has a 65% disapproval rating on all the big issues. Those are the key Bushie rightwing issues.

But you're right, old-style liberalism is (almost) dead. It hardly even exists anymore. Progressives have evolved past old style liberalism and are not on the cutting edge and much more fiscally conservative than the Bushies in charge, who are the worst ever. Bushies deficit spend so much this country is literally headed toward insolvency and bankrputcy. At this rate we will have a 10 trillion dollar debt by the time Bush leaves office. Or damn close.

As for the NY Times, the only big mistake they ever made was believing Bushie WMD's lies and BS before the war. They printed it as fact. They covered up for Karl Rove. They got suckered by the rightwing and had to retract dozens of stories.

ITHACA ANTI-WAR PROTESTORS SPLASHED SOLDIER WITH BLOOD

A U.S. soldier testified in federal court Tuesday (September 20) that he was splashed with human blood by anti-war protesters during a 2003 protest.

The soldier, Staff Sgt. Rachon Montgomery, was working as an army recruiter on March 17, 2003, the day that four protesters threw their own blood around a recruiting center in Lansing, NY, a suburb of Ithaca. As a result of the incident, press reports indicate, Montgomery was tested for blood-borne illnesses such as HIV and hepatitis.
