Our neighbors put their house on the market and moved to California about ten years ago. They had an offer on their house, but they hated California so much they renigged on it and came back. The people who made the offer then bought our house and we bought it from them. For the price we paid for our 4000 sf on an acre and a half, down in California you could get a run down tract home with tiny rooms and barely enough yard to justify a lawnmower.
