I have spoken to soldiers. Soldiers do what they're ordered to do and take pride in their work. They are non-partisan and not loyal to Bush any more than they were to Clinton. Combat soldiers like to kick ass and get adrenelin rushes. Non-combat soldiers generally want to make a positive difference.

The message is clear in Iraq. Despite many brave and costly feats (2000 US dead, 12,000 wounded, 200 billion bucks), the situation is getting worse the longer we stay there.

The troops are jealous of Halliburton types making all the money but taking none of the risks. They hate the Saudis and big oil companies. And our Iraqi allies are thieves and cowards. Plus thousands of troops want to/need to come home to help in Texas and the Gulf. It's a FUBAR situation and like Vietnam, we can't even trust our own allies over there. Time to bring our guys home. Iraq was a huge mistake. It has become a pointless and very costly blunder. The invasion was the easy part and the only part Bush planned for. Huge mistake.

Since when do soldiers get to decide where we send them to get killed? Soldiers WANT wars, it's their job. Especially Generals, who get to play war with real people. Going well? Stay the course? HELL yes!
