That happened when I was evacuating new orleans last year, all the gas ran out - the gas stations became war zones - people take these things too lightly when they are given warnings and don't learn from history - back in the old days a good horse could take many paths, but those iron horses are so limited in thier routes. It's amazing how poorly people can predict the worst case when they have been sheltered thier entire life. I have said before many times it was a wake up call to me when hurricane iwa hit hawaii and I saw trained military soldiers ready to kill each other for a little water.

See if we would start building underground cities like coober pedy - these hurricanes would not matter nearly as much - think of the energy you could save on heating and cooling too - but then I always liked the idea of livin in a dark TRON like world - I really don't understand our civil engineers sometimes. Perhaps I just watched too many episodes of stargate closing up the mountain. Doesn't it only take one tacoma narrows to learn from your mistakes??

Everyone here that thinks we need to preserve Nawlins for its cultural appeal - how pathetic - you should be ashamed - you are going to put more stupid people in the path of destruction for dumb reasons - we have enough land in this country to build in other places that are not hurricane - flood zones - I just don't get it. And the great thing is we can build UNDER the surface too - we have the technology - why are people so stupid to the point they keep killing thier fellow citizens with dumb choices that they cant learn from?

She'll find no room at the inn in Austin. They're having their yearly big music festival and all the rooms are booked. She may end up staying in a high school gym! That's all they've prepared for Rita refugees.
