The Iraqis ARE fighting against the insurgency in numbers greater by, as I recall, a factor of ten compared to a year ago. That's why terrorism will slow down (if not end) in my lifetime, and why we'll be able to leave in my lifetime. If we'd simply left, the civil war you've probably worried about would likely happen, and terrorism would likely reign, instead of the democracy Iraqis want. Dan B.
