Yeah, but a week ago nobody was thinking a cat 4 or even cat 2, and nobody was thinking Texas. What do you do, evacuate the entire gulf coast for the entire hurricane season?


There was significant evidence that Rita would bulk up once she crossed into the Gulf. There was nothing preventing her from doing so......nothing that could drain her power. In addition, temps in the Gulf are way above normal. By Monday she was a 4. Have you seen the computer models? If there is a hit around Port Arthur, Galveston, Beaumont, Lake Charles and PA will be under water. That's a huge area. I never realized how much of the Southeast is that vulnerable.
