Bush-Cheney totally lied about Iraq. Totally. Outright lies, hard spin, fear and smear tactics, false promises, wild exagerations, pressuring the CIA to fake intel, feeding the press total BS, putting out crap from corrupt Iraqi dissidents as if it was fact, etc. etc. They even lied to congress and the senate. Pat Roberts twisted the intel given to senators on the intelligence committee. Now we know the lying was intentional and organized, Cheney being at the center of the deceptions, and that the war was planned before 9-11 and had nothing to do with terrorism. So what was it all for? Probably oil and Halliburton contracts. Or maybe they were really that naive that they though a simple toppling of Saddam would do the trick. dishonesty and incompetence both on a grand scale.

Something is wrong with a war who's reasons for being morphed monthly. What can we do there with 140,000 men? We're outnumbered in a guerilla war with insurgents who are bloody well mad about our continued presence there. And please explain this one to me: thesimon.com Orca

How can you and your types be claiming victory for dethroning Saddam? This man was very effectively contained by Clinton with the imposition of sanctions and no-fly zone. It was evident from the wars with Iraq that the soldiers from the Iraqi military were not behind him. And that is why he had the Republican Guards to protect him and his interests. And the the Republican Guards were paper tigers. Even the Egyptian army overran them during Desert Storm in 1991.
