When you add chlorine to a municipal water supply that has organic substances (i.e., plant life) a by product called THM's is formed. These THM's are proven to cause cancer so most of the United Stated drinks municipal water that is cancerous. Also, starting in January 2006, the EPA is mandating that the arsenic level in all municipal water supplies be below 5 ppb. Essentially, if you are drinking well or city water, there is a good chance that it can kill you. I am not a fan of bottled water but it is processed and the harmful stuff is taken out. The only bad thing about bottled water other than the high price is that the bacteria count is higher than municipal water in most cases. The bacteria is not harmful though. My suggestion to anyone who drinks alot of water is buy a high quality filter to under their kitchen sink to remove lead, THM's, chlorine, color, and it will improve the taste. The systems sold at most major retail chains do work.
