Yes, the Sunni/Shiite war of extremist fundamentalists.

With the Saudis backing the Sunni extremists, and Iran backing the Shiite extremists... akin to the situation in the early 'eighties when Reagan and Rumsfeld believed that backing Saddam could take the Iranians down a peg or two.

The civil war to be fought in Iraq will achieve many Western aims... *both* sets of extremists will cause their backing totalitarian regimes to lose popular support, hastening the emergence of more moderate governments and, dare we say it, a centuries-delayed Reformation in Islam.

Injecting ourselves into the civil war will only *delay* it's ultimate resolution, and allow both sides to take pot shots at us, and blame all of their failures on the 'Western Devils'. :)

(You may not be aware of this, but to the Sunni W'abbists, the *Shia* are more feared and despised then Jews or Christians. After all, to them Jews and Christians are still "people of The Book", while Shiites are blasphemers. Commonly referred to as "spawn of the Devil".)
