"How can they be so stupid for putting it there to begin with?"

Ted is a product of the safe parts of the country.

I am afraid you don't know me very well. I lived in LA for nearly ten years, the land of earthquakes, mud slides and forest fires. You think TX is the most dangerous part of the country to live in....think again.

While his responses might be interesting, they are, at most, interesting.

I'm disappointed to hear that.....I wish I had known sooner. I wouldn't have wasted your time.

He doesn't understand why Houston, and to a greater extent, Arkansas, would respond to the evacuees from Louisiana like we did. The residents of these areas do understand, our ancestors are the ones that survived. It is built into our genes. We don't identify with Bambi, we identify with Godzilla. We descend from those who had to fight to the death with those who struggled against our environment. Our ancestors didn't coexist. They won.

Well you can take the boy out of TX but you can't take the bravado out of a Texan. I thought you were better than that. Obviously, I was mistaken.

You try going through winters at 30 below zero. If you don't think you have to rely on your neighbor for survival, then you've been in the TX sun too long.

And that is the ultimate bottom line.

My mistake. I really thought you were better than this kind of pissy, regressive crap.

And yeah, while we're on the subject, I think its rather stupid to build so many refineries on land that's below sea level. That's not a reflection of good genes but rather just lousy planning and design......or maybe even TX bravado. But I won't continue and bore you with my silly prattle.

Good post.

I don't see any racism here. Only racism there is appears when some talking head shows up and creates it. People running their mouth like Jesse and Farrakhan and ted don't have a clue as to what Texas and Arkansas and the rest of Louisiana is doing for the refugees. Few news reports will mention the faith based operations, all you here about is "this army base" or "that convention center", FEMA this or FEMA that. Leno said the other night during his monolog: "As you know Hurricane Rita is headed toward Florida, Texas and Louisiana. Another hurricane! It’s like the ninth hurricane this season. Maybe this is not a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance."

It is reassuring to know the ACLU and godless people crawl back under their rocks during times our civilization comes together during disasters.

Large convoy of utility trucks came through on the freeway as I was returning from town. Everyone honking their horns and waving at them....good stuff.....even for those "evil" corporations......
