i'm so used to thinking in terms of
kilometers that mph don't mean anything
to me anymore

yes, same with me...
i can barely remember what kph converts
to in mph anymore.

in vancouver, on the highway, i'd hit 120km
easily just to keep up with the traffic.

it's like that on the TransCanada.. at least
in the sections down here,
and on the major routes through T.O. and Montreal, etc..
but i don't drive those much anymore...
maybe once every 3 or 4 years.
if i could walk more places without it taking
the whole day to get where i have to go,
i'd be doing that -- mainly because ripping around
in cars removes much of our sense of place
and being part of the natural world.

jeez... i think we're supposed to be discussing
"Chronicles of Collapse" eh?
but to me, the way we live -- spending so much
of our lives in the fast lane -- is the best
indicator of all that we have lost.
to me, that's a form of collapse too.
