LOL, it ain't 'their's' if they don't have control of it anymore!

The Sunni minority used to be the Top Dog... called the shots.

Now they AREN'T, and it doesn't look like their are going to settle into their new role of diminished influence, diminished power, and no control over the oil wealth without a big, long fight.

And, considering that the Saudi Sunnis are providing them with 'unlimited' financing and military resupply (according to US military briefings), and egging them on in their fight... and considering that Iran is functioning in the same sort of support role for the Shiites of Iraq, then the civil war becomes understandable.

Our best interest would be to stand aside and let the Sunnis and Shiites have at it --- the extremists on both sides would be tied up for a long time, diverting their attention and anger away from the US... and ultimately extremists on both sides would lose credibility with the population, and the political lines would be redrawn to reflect the new (& more rational) political realities.
