Longterm stability, huh? It's brought just the opposite. A permanent American force in Iraq will mean a permanent state of terrorism and insurgency. Just ask the Israelis with their occupied territories.

You have swallowed the Bushie BS line hook, line and sinker. In fact our occupation has seriously destabilized the Middle East as the Saudis just warned yesterday. We need to get out of Iraq, or at least make our presence there much smaller and less visible. So long as we are there terrorism will continue unabated. The Iraq War is also adding about $10 a barrel to oil prices. The cost to us is huge.

As soon as we pull out the Iraqi army will magically appear. They've been hiding. Why should they risk their lives when we'll do it for them? Get it?

Pulling out before Iraq has a constitution in place and an army that's trained to enable enforcement of that constitution would be doing exactly what the insurgents want and thinking that this will all go away once we pull out of Iraq is just wishful thinking.

I don't care if they have a constitution or not. It's up to the Iraqis to decide if they want a constitution and what it should be like.

As for the Iraqi army...where the hell are they? How many years will it take to train them? From what I can see the the program to put Iraqis in charge of themselves is about 2 years behind schedule. Will another 2 years will do it? Maybe more...because we are constructing several permanent bases in Iraq...and it's not for the Iraqi Army either.
