Saddam had no Al Qaida connection. None. They were opposites, on opposite ends of the Arab spectrum. Islamic vs. secular. In fact they were more enemies than allies, and had no history of ever working together on any level.

The only thing they might have agreed on was that Reagan was a great guy and Bush was a jerk. Both Saddam and Osama were strongly supported by the US during the Reagan years.

Saddam supported the Palestenian cause. He did not support Al Qaeda. He was not considered a Muslim by the fundamentalists members oof the Al Qaeda since he allowed his sons to womanize and consume alcohol in his palaces.

The religious fanatics in Al Qaeda including Osama himself did not consider Saddam a true Muslim, since in their books a Muslim does not attack another Muslim (Kuwait). Saddam's adventure into Kuwait angered Osama. According to Osama "Jihad is against non-believers and not against believers." Now, I do not want to debate if that thinking is correct or not. I don't agree else I would have embraced Islam. Just want to state that Osama and Saddam were enemies. Their cronies may have met to collude on terrorist acts which could be acts against Israel in support of the Palestenian cause. But to say that Saddam OK'd collusion with the Al Qaeda for 9/11 is preposterous similar to the theory that the US Govt. had a hand in encouraging 9/11 or "deliberately" neglected warnings to allow 9/11 to happen.
