Patibob,

We were without air conditioning until this afternoon. Thank goodness our air conditioning engineer was able to get gas and came directly to our house from Crockett, Tx. Said it took them almost thirty seven hours to get there since they finally had to stop and get some sleep and then gasoline was a problem for them. Didn't take them long to get back. He and his wife live down near the coast and had talked with neighbors before they came back and had no damage either.

Our unit had a blown fuse and he replaced it and now we have air again. He has become a special friend since working on our old, old unit for probably thirteen years. It was a rough day today, but did have a big fan in the bedroom so we could sleep last night. Kept it running today and all the cats were on the bed snoozing away. They are spoiled more than I am. I was very hot and did go in from time to time to try to cool down, since I am one of those elderly that can dehydrate quickly. We are going to turn the A/C down so the walls will cool off quicker we hope. My husband did say we had a couple of slate pieces come off the roof that he found today, so will call our roofer to see if we need any repairs on it. They were not full slate pieces, but do want to be sure we don't have any leaks to deal with later.

The City of Houston was so very lucky not getting a direct hit.
