NatureBuoy,

have been enjoying reading about
the team's games and the tailgate party.
sounds like the season is off to a great start.

also sounds like we're all busy in our own ways...

for the past few days, i've been going out
in search of salamanders -- and finding quite a few.
you carefully turn logs in ideal habitat
and if you're lucky,
you find the herpetological equivalent
of hidden treasure -- turquoise, opals, amethysts... (o:

here are some of my favourite shots from last week...

of course, when you're turning logs, you come across
other inhabitants as well... (i think this is where
we lose dusty if we haven't already.. <g>)
all were calm and very easy to photograph,
but then i'm calm and give them no reason to mind
having their portraits taken. (-:

here's one that you've probably heard many times,
but I'll be you may never have seen.
big voice for such a tiny frog -- it is small enough
that it can sit on a quarter, or maybe even a nickle.

and these are on the move into the woodlands
looking for a good place to hibernate...

of course, there were many more things to see...
shot about 500 photos a day... (o:
it's been good...
will be spending much time "out there" for the next few weeks,
or as long as the nice autumn weather continues...

Did you read the book? IMO it's even better than the movie (although I agree with you, the movie is good).

Did you ever see the movie The Journey of August King? I thought it was a very good movie. It was overlooked by almost everyone, but it's really beautifully photographed (which is why Cold Mountain reminded me of it).
