Enron hired Bush-Cheney operatives illegally, like Ralph Reed, of the Christian Coialition whom Enron put on the payroll in 1999 as an "energy consultant" for 150 K. clearly that was an illegal payment to the Bush-Cheney campaign as Reed was one of Rove-Bush's key operatives in stealing the nomination from McCain. The Christian right were used as foot soldiers in the smear campaign against McCain in South Carolina putting leaflets on church parking lot windshields claiming McCain was a homosexual, traitor and whore-monger.
