They've been singing this song in public since May. Obviously the effort of both the Fed and regulators is to talk the problem away. What is even more amazing is how the worst of these lenders manage to create loans with poor returns, and in a flat yield curve environment. Apparently has surprised Greenspan too. If companies like NEW change their lending policies for real, that will mark a sea change to the whole enabling system.
