i remember walking through a tank farm and caustic acid bubble up from the ground. refineries used have big pits , they through all the junk in there. some places in brooklyn are still pumping more gasoline out of the ground from spills than we will discover in new wells. some things needed correction and maybe jail time in a big way. how about love canal or years ago they would take slop oil from blending, crankcases and spray it over dirt roads to hold down the dust.
