I doubt if any of those cops left because they feared their personal safety, more likely they were afraid of not getting their families out in one piece. I don't know about the police in NO but when the military asks you to go in harms way they do their best to ensure that your family is taken care of my setting up support networks. This ensures that the troops are focused on the task at hand rather than worrying about the condition of their families. The question is, did the city of NO have any type support group to take care of the families of police officers? And if not.........WHY?

I'm not that critical of the police in question, but the more I think about it, the less I like subsidizing building below sea level. My opinion is that if people want help rebuilding, they can move to higher ground and if they want to build in a hole, they can use their own money.
