at least according to "research" work done by NYT, the Saudi women seem to be quite happy with their current status. So maybe we should just leave them (the Saudis) alone to carry on as they wish?

The article is nonsense. One woman doesn't want to drive does not equal all women don't want to drive. In their current system Saudi women can't carry on as they wish. Legalizing driving for women would allow them to carry on as they wish - those that want to will, those that don't won't.
