So very true, Pattibob. Thanks for bringing me back to reality.

Our home has so many beautiful things that were done by the real craftsmen of our time by hand and cannot be replaced by todays methods. Most of todays moldings are made of plastic and most of the motifs are also. I searched for twelve years to find it and I wanted a home that had not been remodeled numerous times. It is still in its original state, except for adding conveniences to the kitchen and the utility room out in the garage that I felt needed to be done that were not available at the time it was built. It was one of the only ones in the area that had central air and heat in 1939 and the original unit is still running. We have a very good engineer keeping it that way but he is worth everything he charges and is not cheap, but it keeps our utility bills below what they would be with todays models. It was put in this house by an engineering company, the basement was built first and it was dropped in before the house was constructed above it. The lady that owned it was maticulous in its upkeep until she got very old and made a few mistakes in inside painting, that is she allowed water base paint to be used over oil base and I had to have every bit of it resanded and painted with oil base again. Our painter was with us five months attending to all that. All and all it is basically in its original state. I also had the mahoganey floors varathaned and they still look great.

I have kept every invoice for any work done on it from the time we bought it to the present and will pass copies on to the people who purchase it so they can see the loving care it has had. Have done that with each and every home we have lived in and people have told me how much they appreciated having those for the history of the home. Did not realize it then, but having those invoices will help with the IRS when we sell as we will be able to deduct all the improvements from our Capital Gains so my being very detailed will pay off handsomely if my children are left with the ownership and us if we sell it before we pass on, including the $125,000.00 deduction we will be afforded.
