Why not?

We are expending a GREATER proportion of our national wealth on our military playing 'global cop' then even the British Empire did shortly before it's long decline.

If the economic base is hollowed-out, then deficit financing can only prop up exorbitance for a short while.

Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
