I use Street Smart. It is a stock tracking analysis and trading tool which is provided to Schwab customers for free if you meet certain criteria. It is a stripped down version of Cyber Trader. Cyber Trader is a subsidiary of Schwab, and their full tool is more powerful, but they have very limited research available and limited personal service. They also offer a stripped version for a PDA.

There have been som ads for Ameritrade that make is sound like they offer a tool to their investors as well.

There are some tools you can buy, but since this is available there is limited incentive to investigate or buy. The important thing is that in order to have your computer execute a trade for you, it has to have some kind of interface to current stock quotes and to your brokerage firm.

If you are using a full service brokerage that wants you to talk to a person there may no service available. They may still offer some EC interface. You would have to either get the information from a brokerage you do business with, or open and account at a firm that offer services you desire.

I hope this is more plain to understand.
