re: What's lost in the discussion is that we can't afford all.
******
I don't suppose you have any basis for this remark, right? How did you determine that we "can't afford all"?

Ever hear of the budget deficit? Even your Republican heros in congress are in panic mode... even talking about cutting pork for God sakes!

Bush is about to ask for ~$80Billion more for Iraq, on top of the $200Billion we've already spent. Then there is the embassy we're going to build in Iraq, the world's largest embassy, for the bargain price of only $1.5Billion! How many 1200 square foot homes can you build in New Orleans with that kind of money?

re: What we can't afford is a freaking Social Security system that is technically insolvent.

Yeah right, we can't afford to help our seniors because we've got all those Iraqi's to take care of.

We've had this discussion way too many times, just go back six months and reread it. If Bush hadn't insisted on a cockamamie scheme that would add $Trillions to the debt, we might have solved the problem by now.

One day you neo's will learn that the debt does matter... that the next generation is not going to live nearly as well as this generation, because of the weak fiscal discipline of Bush and his Republican congress.
