Louisiana has been trending, and will continue to trend, toward the GOP. Vitter, who was elected in 2004, is Louisiana's first Republican Senator. Landrieu owes her Senate seat to genetics. Blanco will be a one term governor. She only beat Bobby Jindal because certain elements of the Louisiana electorate were uncomfortable with his ethnic background. Bobby Jindal is a comer. He is a bright, articulate conservative. A prediction: Sometime in the future, Mr. Jindal will be nominated to a national GOP ticket.
